Who are Moore and Rodgers?

Jill Newton Moore and Beth Rodgers… Imagine two skinny little girls who build helicopters with erector sets and rip apart Chatty Cathy to see how she works instead of dressing her up and playing mommy. See them 10 years later, awkward teenage girls who spend Saturday night mixing chemicals in the darkroom instead of just hanging out. Fast forward a lot more years and see two smart, funny, artistic, playful, and endlessly curious women who finally accept that their own brand of geekiness has found the perfect outlet in creating beautiful images of people living their lives to the fullest.

Jill is the whimsical one who knows the precise moment when a bride is going to cry and ruin her makeup, and she gets the shot before it happens. Beth is the techie one who can sense when the light is about to shift gears and has the right flash attachment out to make that light glow. Jill loves the kids who stick fingers in the wedding cake. Beth notices the way grandpa takes grandma's hand as they stand in the receiving line and captures just the perfect angle on that special moment.

Jill is a professor of writing and photography. Beth is a nursing professor, author, and researcher. As educators, we have spent decades helping people achieve their goals and realize their lifelong dreams. We also have spent decades honing our photographic art, with more than 35 years of experience each. We bring care, compassion, and creativity to everything we do. Together we make gorgeous photographs and we do this because we absolutely love it!

Why choose us?

The photographer you choose for your special photos can make a big difference in your experience. Lots of people have cameras. Some people are really good with them. A smaller number are good with cameras and a good match for your own personality and needs. Even fewer are masters with their cameras and the refinement of images to give you the photographic memory you will cherish. Photography isn't just about taking photos; it is about capturing moments and essences. If you find one (or two) of those special photographers who are fun to work with and able to understand your needs, you have found something special, and it will show in the photos that you get. We might be those people. Talk to us. Let's find out.

Jill Moore

I have been doing photography since the 1970s and have photographed in the US, England, Ireland, Europe, Africa, and Central America. I frequently take students and community members on photo shoots to the Costa Rican rainforest because every place your eye comes to rest, you see something astonishing, from foaming volcanoes to thumbnail-sized blue jean frogs. Some of my favorite portfolios are my shots of women and children from Cameroon, W. Africa; hummingbirds of the Costa Rican rainforest; horses as representatives of the collective unconscious; and any baby anywhere, anytime.

In Wisconsin, I was a member of the Coalition of Photographic Arts (CoPA), where I served as co-chair of Exhibitions for many years; the Underwood Society of Fine Art Photographers; and the Spring City Photographers, based in Waukesha. I exhibited and sold my work throughout the Milwaukee Area and have been a featured photographer at the Walkers' Point Center for the Arts, the Wauwatosa Art Walk, the West Allis Art Walk, and the Waukesha Art Crawl. I am the first recipient of an Artist Incentive Award from CoPA. My two kids, ages 22 and 20, have grown up with a camera stuck in front of them and now refuse to look "normal" in any photo I try to take of them.

Beth Rodgers

I have been involved in photography since I was a teenager capturing motocross races, riders and crowds for a southeastern US motorcycle publication, doing outdoor portrait work, and capturing on film whatever caught my eye. In later years, the outdoors became a source of increasing interest for me and I have exhibited my nature and landscape photography in numerous shows and juried exhibitions. My background gives me a strong awareness and sensitivity to people and I bring that to my photography. I am always seeking to improve my photographic skills through ongoing study, learning new techniques and keeping up with the latest in design. The combination of this people focus and diverse photography background gives me the skill to work with a variety of settings and with all kinds of people and personalities. I particularly enjoy working with people on location in settings that are meaningful to the individual and where I can help the personality and essence of the person shine. Helping people look their most true, relaxed, and beautiful is the focus of all of my work with wedding and portrait photography.

Currently I am a member of the Professional Photographers Association. In Wisconsin, I was a member of the Coalition of Photographic Arts (CoPA), the Underwood Society of Fine Art Photographers, the Spring City Photographers, and the Southeastern Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association.
